The Plan

…In your life’s blueprint you must have as the basic principle the determination to achieve excellence in your various fields of endeavor. You’re going to be deciding as the days, as the years unfold what you will do in life – what your life’s work will be. Set out to do it well."
- Martin Luther King Jr.

Before any great monument is erected, an architect will draw out and design a blueprint. Blueprints are made to serve as a guide to navigate the process of construction, from the laying of the foundation to the heights of the ceiling. To erect a great life into existence, one must act as the architect of his or her own life. From the principles that we base our foundations upon, to the very peak of what we ultimately desire to be, our lives are a product of the execution of our actions. The power of the blueprint lies within the its essence, a step by step process of action to sail from Point A to Point Z. Without proper and decisive planning, a monument will fall and crumble down to the earth which it was laid upon. Without proper and decisive planning, a life will fail to reach its potential and fall into a purposeless void. Terrence McKenna once said, “If you don't have a plan, you become part of somebody else’s plan.” Those with plans decide the pace of human life, and only those with plans can change the pace of their own lives. Those with plans decide what they will do, how they will live, and who they will ultimately become. Design a blueprint for yourself so great that no one else could have planned it better. Think as if it is your destiny to do so, and act upon that blueprint as if the universe called upon you at that very moment in history to do it. “When the winds begin to blow, and the skies begin to hail, seek great wisdom as you go, and set the better sail.”
